How to change your life, one failure at a time.

We all change with time, everything and everyone does. The challenge is to change for the better, to become better in time management, to improve as a writer, to gain new skills, to have more money. All meaningful positive changes. And to achieve all of this, we do a lot of research and try new ways of doing things but how do we really know whether what we’re doing works or not?

The only way humans have figured out whether their strategies work or not is by getting genuine objective feedback to their actions.

Feedback is necessary for effecting personal change as it provides us with valuable insights about our strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. By receiving feedback from others or by self-assessing one’s own performance, we can identify areas where we need to improve and make necessary changes.

Feedback loops are a powerful tool that can be also be used to improve decision making in a variety of contexts. At its core, a feedback loop involves taking action, receiving feedback on the results of that action, and using that feedback to inform future decision making. By following this process, both individuals and organizations can continuously improve their decision making, resulting in better outcomes over time.

Setting up an unbiased feedback loop in our lives whether it be through a coach or a mentor can really help us identify our blind spots or areas where we may be unaware of our own weaknesses. For example, a person might believe that they are an excellent communicator, but feedback from others may reveal that they need to work on listening more effectively. By recognizing and addressing these blind spots, that person can make targeted changes in their approach that can improve their overall performance.

One way to we can implement a feedback loop is by setting clear goals and metrics for success, whether it be for our personal development goals or business goals. This might involve defining what success looks like for a particular decision, such as achieving a certain level of sales or profit margins, or physically reaching a predefined weight goal. Once these goals are established, it becomes easier to regularly track progress and measure results. This feedback can then be used to adjust strategies or make new decisions in order to achieve better outcomes.

Additionally, feedback can help individuals to avoid complacency or stagnation. By receiving regular feedback and continually working to improve, individuals can avoid becoming stuck in their old ways and keep growing and developing. In addition, using feedback loops can help to reduce the potential for bias and errors in decision making. By regularly evaluating and adjusting strategies based on feedback, decision makers can ensure that they are not getting stuck in a particular way of thinking or making assumptions that are no longer valid.

Another key aspect of feedback loops is the willingness to learn and adapt. It is important to view feedback not as criticism or failure, but as an opportunity to improve. On the flipside, its a major mindset shift to consider failures as just a feedback mechanism of life. Treating failure as just another feedback and using it to learn and adapt our future strategies can help us bounce back really fast. Adopting this mindset helps us remain open to new information and perspectives which can give us valuable insights for our decision making.

Please note : Not all feedback is valuable, and it is important to recognize when to disregard unhelpful or malicious feedback. Knowing when to receive constructive feedback versus when to dismiss feedback can be equally important. For instance, it is essential to distinguish between feedback and opinions. Feedback is based on observations and reactions to one’s specific actions, while opinions are simply personal feelings about a particular aspect of the world and do not necessarily relate to one’s actions. Rather than dictate what one should be doing, Feedback aims to expand one’s perspective.

Overall, implementing dependable unbiased feedback loops in our lives could give us real insights about our weaknesses and blindspots. This helps us learn faster, improve dramatically and make better decisions in our pursuit of success.
